Green Star Rating

The Green Star Hotel rating system is based on a certification system where “Green Stars” are awarded according to the level of environmental performance of the hotel. Achieving a Green Star Hotel certification needs commitment. Besides passing the Green Star Hotel capacity building programme, the hotel needs to accomplish all the mandatory criteria 100%. Further environmental and social actions and innovative environmental practices are additionally credited. This will be verified in an independent audit by an audit commission. If the mandatory criteria are all fulfilled and depending how intensive the commitment for sustainability  is, the hotel  can obtain 3,4 or 5 Green Stars depending on the points that each hotel can get from the optional criteria.
